Man Utd, Arsenal, Tottenham & Chelsea locked in race for free-kick maestro

Hakan Calhanoglu Chelsea

Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal scouts were all present during Bayer Leverkusen clash with Koln last week to watch the Turkish international playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, according to the Daily Mail.

Per-the-source, the Premier League clubs were monitoring the former HSV man as well as the youngster Julian Brandt.

United may have the upper hand in the race to sign Calhanoglu after the 22-year-old admitted that it would be hard to turn down an offer from the Red Devils.

Calhanoglu was quoted by Lig Tv as saying: “Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be different to turn them down but I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort.”

The 22-year-old has two-years left on his contract and Bayer CEO Michael Schade stated back in 2015 (Metro) that the club would only listen to offers of £28.9 million and above.

Calhanoglu has provided six assists and scored five goals for Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Leverkusen currently find themselves in ninth place in the league with just 21 points after 16 games.
