Man Utd boss axed Van Persie over a game of golf

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal stated that he let Robin Van Persie know that he had no future at the club over an end-of-season game of golf.

“I have said that in a conversation with him and we have to keep it like that,” Van Gaal was quoted as saying in the Mirror.

“But he knew that already from the day we have played golf. After we played golf, we talked about the perspective for him at Manchester United.”

Van Persie was rumoured to have fell out with the Dutch manager before his move to the Yellow Canaries.

The star striker was rumoured to have made his decision to leave United after Louis van Gaal reportedly humiliated him during a team training session according to the Daily Mirror.

The Netherlands international ended a three-season spell at United during which time he won the Premier League title.

Van Persie completed a three-year move to the Yellow Canaries today in a signing ceremony held in-front of 15,000 Fenerbahçe fans at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.
