Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Besiktas’ star playmaker Oguzhan Ozyakup this summer.

According to the Daily Star both United and Arsenal are locked in a race to sign the Turkey international.

Besiktas’ president Fikret Orman previously linked Ozyakup with a move to Old Trafford.

“When Ozyakup leaves Besiktas it will be for Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. A club of that calibre,” Orman was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

The report goes onto state that the Black Eagles have set a £16.8 million price tag on Ozyakup. The 23-year-old has another two-years remaining on his current contract with Besiktas.

Ozyakup is of course no stranger to playing in England after he joined Arsenal’s academy as a youth from AZ back in 2008.

The midfielder made his Arsenal debut in 2011 in a League Cup however, failed to make an appearance for the Gunners in the Premier League.

Ozyakup joined Bestikas in 2012 in the quest for first team football for just £350,000 and has gone onto established himself as one of the stars of the Turkish League.

Arsenal do have a 25 percent future sale clause and Ozyakup has revealed in the past that if he were to return to the Premier League he hopes it would be back to the North London based club.
