Man Utd could be next destination for Besiktas star says club president

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has revealed the Manchester United could be the next destination for Oguzhan Ozyakup.

Orman also stated that he could end up at Barcelona or Real Madrid as well in the near future.

“When Ozyakup leaves Besiktas it will be for Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. A club of that calibre,” Orman said when asked about the transfer situation of Ozyakup at his press conference.

The Turkish international midfielder has been closely linked with a move abroad this summer but does still have another two-years remaining on his contract.

Besiktas do however, want €20 million for the central midfielder and have rejected offers under their valuation over the past season.

It is not the first time United have been linked with Ozyakup as he caught the attention of scouts from the Premier League outfit according to the Milliyet (via Eurosport).

The daily newspaper states that United scouts who were sent to keep tabs on Mario Gomez, turned their attention towards Özyakup following his impressive display against Bursaspor.

This was not the first time that Orman has made bold claims for his star midfielder.

Orman recently told TRT: “Last season, Lazio made an approach for Oguzhan,” Orman began, “but I didn’t want him to go there.

“Lazio are an average side in Italy,” he continued. “Besiktas are bigger than them.

“If Oguzhan goes to Europe, it should be to a team of the calibre of Chelsea.”

Borussia Dortmund and West Ham are also both interested Ozyakup according to the Milliyet.

Ozyakup has experience playing abroad in the Netherlands – where he was born – and England for the Arsenal youth side before his move to Besiktas in 2012 in pursuit of first team football.

The 23-year-old midfielder has had a brilliant season playing a key role in winning the league title – his first – with 10 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season.

The former Arsenal man has started in both of Turkey’s Euro 2016 clashes and is expected to star against the Czech Republic in the final group game.
