Man Utd had bid for Barcelona star Arda Turan rejected – agent

Barcelona team news

Arda Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut has confirmed that Manchester United were interested in signing the Turkish international before he joined Barcelona in July.

“Last season Manchester United made a bid for Arda but Atletico Madrid did not want him to leave,” Ahmet Bulut told AMK (via Goal).

“I was in talks with Barcelona but told nobody about it at the time.”

Turan joined Barcelona on a five-year deal despite knowing that he would have to sit on the sidelines for six months as the reigning Champions League champions had been hit with a FIFA transfer ban.

The former Galatasaray midfielder has years of experience playing in the La Liga and has lifted every domestic title in Spain as well as the Europa League and European Super Cup.

Barcelona are currently in Japan played the World Club Cup. Turan was taken to Japan with the team by head coach Luis Enrique to train with the team.

Barcelona will play River Plate in the final on Sunday after the Argentinian giants beat Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the other semi-final.
