Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand staed that the likes of Luis Nani and former players that left the club over the summer are of a better calibre than the starting line-up which took on Liverpool yesterday.
“I’v got a list of players here, Di Maria, Nani, Evra, Welbeck, Chicharito, Evans, Fletcher, Rafael, Kagawa,” Rio Ferdinand stated like on BT Sport.
“Are they worse than the players that were out there? They are better than that team out there.”
Nani joined Fenerbahce on a three-year deal over the summer transfer window after spending last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon.
The Portugal international won four Premier League titles, the Champions League and the World Club Cup during his time at Manchester United.
The 28-year-old has hit the ground running at his new club establishing himself as a first team regular. Nani has 10 goals and eight assists in all competitions the Turkish Super league leaders this season.
Liverpool beat United 2-0 at Anfield in the first Europa League meeting between the Premier League rivals.
United still have a chance of progressing to the quarter-final round if they can turn around the 2-0 defeat next week at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils could end up facing former players Nani and Robin van Persie who left over the summer transfer window if they make it to the next round.
