Man Utd set to make swoop for Turkish international star

Hakan Calhanoglu Chelsea

Manchester United have been linked again with Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Çalhanoğlu this time by the Bild.

United reportedly are targeting Bundesliga duo Çalhanoğlu and Ricardo Rodriguez in an attempt to strengthen the squad.

The Turkish international has been closely linked with United over the past few months and there were rumours that he had joined the Red Devils on the transfer window deadline but they obviously turned out to be false.

The 21-year-old did however, recently add to speculation when he revealed that he would find it difficult to turn down an offer from the Premier League giants but also mentioned reigning La Liga champions Barcelona.

Calhanoglu was quoted by Lig Tv as saying: “Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be different to turn them down but I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort.”

The Turkish international already has six goals and four assists to his name this season and has established a name for himself as a free-kick maestro. The Bayer playmaker already has 22 goals from direct-free kicks to his name.
