Man Utd star should not go to Euro 2016 says Arsenal's Mesut Ozil

Ozil is going into Mesut Ozil has stated that Manchester United’s star midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger should go to Euro 2016 as a mascot if he is injured.

Schweinsteiger has been plagued with injury troubles since joining United from Bayern and is currently undergoing treatment for a ligament injury.

“Bastian Schweinsteiger is a footballer, not a mascot,” Ozil told the German outlet SID.

“We do not need him as third assistant coach; we need him with his experience and game intelligence on the pitch.”

Schweinsteiger has two assists and one goal for United in 31 games since joining in the summer

Ozil is going into Euro 2016 in brilliant form. The 27-year-old has provided the highest number of assists in the Premier League this season (18).

Ozil would have had more assists to his name had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates. The former Real madrid man has created the most chances in the league (137) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
