Man Utd star Van Persie turns down £34m contract offer from Galatasaray & Fenerbahce

Manchester United star Robin van Persie is reported to have turned down an £34 million contract offer from Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe according to the Sun.

The deal would have worked out at roughly £220,000 per-week on a three-year term.

The Netherlands international was reported to have consulted Fenerbahçe winger Dirk Kuyt and Galatasaray playmaker Wesley Sneijder regarding a potential move.

Former Netherlands international Dirk Kuyt claimed that Van Persie would play in Turkey at some stage in his career back in 2012.

“Van Persie knows the club well, I have told him all about Fenerbahçe and he has told me that he would like to play in Turkey one day,” Kuyt told Lig TV.

Van Persie is now however, expected to remain at the Premier League giants despite United having a policy of offering one-year deals for players over 30.

The 31-year-old has spent much of the season out on the sidelines but has still been able to score 10 times in the league.

Van Persie helped the club secure the Premier League title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge.
