Man Utd target Gundogan has a 'number' of suitors says Dortmund CEO

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed that İlkay Gündoğan has a number of clubs interested in him according to Goal.

“There are certainly a number of interested parties,” Watzke said.

The 24-year-old has been closely linked with Manchester United and Barcelona over recent weeks.

United are reported to be monitoring the Dortmund midfielder according to the Telegraph and his girlfriends recent Instagram post showing a flightboard with Manchester written on it caused a social media storm.

The Premier League giants will however, face stiff competition from Barcelona.

Gündoğan traveled to Barcelona on Monday according to a report in the German newspaper Bild and also passed a medical for the La Liga giants according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Dortmund midfielder has five assists and three goals in 32 appearances for Dortmund despite spending much of the season out injured.

The 24-year-old has stated in the past that he wants to play in England or Spain one day.

“Playing outside Germany is one of my big goals. If one day I leave here, I’d like to play in Spain or for one of the big teams in England,” Gündoğan was quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror at the turn of the year.
