Man Utd's Van Persie 'so proud to be' in Istanbul ahead of Fenerbahce move

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has stated that his is ‘proud’ to be in Istanbul ahead of his move to Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahçe have released a statement today confirming that Robin Van Persie will complete his move from Manchester United to the club on Tuesday 14 July at 18:00 (local time).

Van Persie arrived in Turkey yesterday on a private chartered jet provided by Fenerbahçe and was welcomed by thousands of fans who turned out to greet the star striker at the Sabiha Gökçen airport.

“I feel so good. I’m very happy to be in Istanbul. I will be in front of fantastic fans. I can’t wait to meet them. I hope to make them happy,” Van Persie told Fenerbahce TV.

“The things that I see here are incredible. Many thanks to everybody who came here for me. I’m very proud to be here.”

The 31-year-old striker has become the second player to join the Yellow Canaries from United over the course of the week.

Fenerbahçe have now made a total of eight transfers this season including Lille defender Simon Kjaer, Brazil international Josef De Souza and last seasons Super Lig goal king Fernandao.
