Manchester United have joined the race to sign Fenerbahce’s in-demand left back Caner Erkin according to a report in the Sabah.

The daily Turkish newspaper states that United are one of a host of clubs interested in the 27-year-old including Chelsea, Liverpool and Stoke City.

Erkin has yet to extend his contract and would be available on a free transfer unless Fenerbahce renew terms with the Turkey international.

The former Galatasaray left-back’s agent was however, quick to deny rumours that a an agreement with Inter had been reached.

“There have been enquiries but no formal offers have been made and no deal has been struck,” football agent Batur Altiparmak told Turkish-football.com.

Liverpool are also among his current suitors having recently sent scouts to watch the Erkin Istanbul derby against Besiktas.

Erkin has experience playing abroad for Russian giants CSKA Moscow and is a seasoned Turkish international. The Fenerbahce star has one goal and eight assists in 24 appearances for the Istanbul giants this season.
