Manchester United target Gundogan may remain at Dortmund

Ilkay Gündoğan may remain at Borussia Dortmund for the 2015-16 seasons according to the clubs CEO Michael Zorc.

According to Sport1, When asked about Gündoğan’s future Zorc stated that the club are “open” to any possibility including the option that the 26-year-old remains at Dortmund.

Zorc previously stated that Gündoğan would be leaving the club after refusing to sign a contract extension with Dortmund.

“Our talks came to the conclusion that he won’t extend his contract and will leave in the summer,” Zorc told local newspaper WAZ.

Manchester United are currently front runners to sign Gündoğan according to the bookmakers and the Germany international has stated that he will make a decision regarding his future at the end of the month.

The 24-year-old played a staring role in Germany’s 7-0 victory over Gibraltar on last week. The deep-lying-playmaker was recently spotted in Japan supporting his team mate and former United player Shinji Kagawa.

Gündoğan has five assists and three goals in 33 appearances for Dortmund despite spending much of the season out with a back injury.
