Manchester United target Semih Kaya close to Atetico Madrid move

Atletico Madrid are close to agreeing terms with Galatasaray defender Semih Kaya according to NTV Spor.

Atleti CEO Miguel Angel Gil was recently in Turkey discussing terms with Turkish Airlines over stadium naming rights but was also reported to have met with officials from Galatasaray.

Arda Turan is said to have recommended the 23-year-old centre-back.

Kaya would be expected to join in January if Atleti and Galatasaray were to agree a deal.

The Turkish international defender still has four-years left on his contract and makes €1.5 million per-season.

Manchester United have also been linked with Kaya, the Premier League outfit have been keeping tabs on the young defender for the past two-seasons.

United made an enquiry for Kaya in 2012 and were also reported to have been interested in the Turkish international this summer.

Kaya is the product of the Galatasaray academy and has made 120 appearances for his club.

The 23-year-old is into his third consecutive season in the Champions League and has 19 international caps.

Galatasaray have been reluctant to let Kaya leave due to the foreign player ruling which only allows five foreign footballers to play at any one time during a domestic game.
