Man United transfer news: Juan Mata targeted by Dutch coach Dick Advocaat

Fenerbahce boss Dick Advocaat is keen on making a move for Juan Mata according to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik.

Per the source, the Dutch coach is an admirer of the Spanish international and feels he would be the perfect match in a No 10 role were he to join Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce have been keeping tabs on Mata and were linked with him over the summer but have yet to enter formal talks but Advocaat is pushing for an end of season move.

The 28-year-old has another two-years remaining on his current contract and is expected to stay at United over the winter transfer break.

Mata was expected to leave United over the summer as a result of his – previous – frosty relationship with Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager has however, put differences aside and made use of Mata who has been one of the best performing players for United this season scoring four times and providing two assists in all competitions.

Mata has been directly involved in 83 goals since joining the Premier League; no midfielder has more – 42 goals, 41 assists.

In other Man United transfer news Mourinho is keen on Southampton’s Virgin van Dijk according to the Independent but it he will cost in the region of £30 million.
