Fenerbahçe midfielder Mehmet Topal could miss the Süper Lig game against Gaziantepspor on the weekend after suffering an injury during the 4-1 win over Rizespor in the Turkish Cup.
Serdar Kesimal could also miss the game after he sustained an injury in the cup game as well.
The Yellow Canaries released a statement confirming the injuries but did not reveal how long they expected each player to be out.
The statement read: “Our club doctor Burak Kunduracıoğlu noticed an injury to Mehmet Topral’s left ankle and Serdar Kesimal also suffered an injury. Both players will undergo scans to determine the severity of their injuries.”
Fenerbahçe crushed Rizespor 4-1 away from home to progress to the quarter-finals.
The quarter-final draw will be held at the end of the week. Bursaspor, Sivasspor, Kayerispor, Mersin and Fenerbahçe have all guaranteed a place in the next round.
The Yellow Canaries now face a gruelling trip back to Istanbul and then another flight to Gaziantep a day later.
The Turkish giants are currently in second place on 43 points after 19 games, just one point behind league leaders Beşiktaş.
