Messi ‘against’ Barca signing Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil – wants club to transfer Liverpool superstar instead

Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil has recently been linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

According to Catalunya Radio, Barca have already held talks with Ozil’s representative Dr Erkut Sogut and personal terms with the Germany international have been agreed.

However, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi may have put a stop to the transfer.

Spanish outlet Dario Gol states that Messi is ‘against Barcelona signing Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil in January.’

Per the source, Messi believes Ozil would be bad business for Barcelona. The 29-year-old is understood to be demanding wages in excess of £300,000-per-week.

The report goes onto state that Messi wants his side to turn their attention back to signing 25-year-old Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.

Messi is also understood to be concerned regarding Ozil’s consistency both in terms of form and fitness.

Ozil is expected to be back in action this weekend when Arsenal take on Burnley FC in the Premier League.
