Mesut Ozil has congratulated his teammates and fans after Arsenal surprisingly finished the season ahead of their bitter north London rivals Tottenham.
The 27-year-old played a staring role in his sides 4-0 win over Aston Villa on the last day of the season.
Ozil played 88 minutes before being taken off in place of Mikel Arteta. The Germany international took to social media after a game and uploaded a selfie along with the caption, “Yaaaa Gunners Yaaaa … 🙌👍🏼😉 4:0 win and we finished above Tottenham in the @premierleague table!”
Germany international of Turkish origin Mesut Ozil provided an assist for the second goal setting up Olivier Giroud who bagged a hat-trick.
Ozil has now setup 19 goals in the league this season just one short of equalling the Premier League record of 20 set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Arsenal would have finished third had Tottenham even drawn but Newcastle who had already been relegated managed to beat Spurs.
