Mesut Ozil disappoints in Arsenal 2-1 defeat to Zagreb

Arsenal v Manchester Utd Mesut Ozil

Mesut Özil played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions league.

The defeat leaves the Gunners in third place in Group F behind Bayern Munich and Zagreb. Arsenal take on Bayern in their next Champions League clash.

Özil received a rating of 6.4 from whoscored. The 26-year-old performed below us usually high standards providing just one key pass and taking one shot on target during the game. The World Cup winner maintained a passing accuracy of 78%.

Arsenal will need to bounce back from tonight’s defeat quickly as they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on their London rivals Chelsea.

The Croatian side took an early lead thanks to an own goal from Oxlade Chamberlain and the Gunners night took a turn for the worse when striker Olivier Giroud was sent off for a second yellow card offence on 39 minutes.

Zagreb put the final nail in the coffin on 58 minutes when Fernandes doubled the home sides league. Second half substitute Theo Walcott gave Arsenal a glimmer of hope when he pulled one goal back on 79 minutes but it proved to be too little too late.
