Arsenal star Mesut Özil has finally woken up according to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
“This year he woke up, he has finally woke up and you have to give him his credit,” Henry said speaking on Sky Sports after the 2-1 win over Everton.
The World Cup winner has come under a lot of stick since joining the Gunners on a record £42.5 million transfer from Real Madrid in 2013.
Özil has been criticised about everything from his languid playing style to not working hard enough and even his fashion choice but he has managed to turn around public perception this season.
The 27-year-old has five assists in his last four league games and has played an important role in Arsenal reaching the top of the Premier League table.
The Gunners are currently first ahead of second placed Manchester City who they overtook last weekend with a win against Everton.
The north London based side take on Swansea next at the Liberty stadium on Saturday 31 October and Özil is expected to start.
