Mesut Özil included in The Guardian Top 100 footballers 2014 list [divider]
Arsenal star Mesut Özil has been included in the 2014 Guardian Top 100 footballers list.
The list of the greatest players of 2014 was compiled by a panel of 73 experts from 28 nations.
Özil was listed at 54, the only other player of Turkish origin was Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan was listed at 38 on the list, the only other player of Turkish origin

Özil has not featured for the Arsenal since damaging his knee ligaments during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in October.
The Arsenal playmaker has made two assists and scored one goal in nine appearances for the North-London based club this season.
Özil joined Arsenal for a record £42.5 million transfer fee from Real Madrid last season.
The 26-year-old became the first player of Turkish origin to lift the World Cup with Germany this summer.
