Mathieu Flamini has stated that Mesut Ozil is happy with life at Arsenal during an interview with the club’s official website.
The former AC Milan midfielder spoke about the importance for a player to be happy off the field and how it reflects on the pitch.
“We are close friends and we have a good time on and off the pitch,” Flamini told Arsenal’s official website.
“That’s very important because, if you want to be able to perform, you have to feel happy in your head and feel confident off the pitch.
“I believe he is [happy] here and we have such a great atmosphere here that it makes it very easy for him to feel comfortable.”
Özil recently spoke about his friendship with teammate Flamini, the 27-year-old underlined that he genuinely gets on with the Frenchman and that they had a lot of fun together.
“I have a really good understanding with Mathieu. He’s a guy who always gives 100 per cent on the pitch but when he’s off the pitch, he’s a player who makes a lot of jokes and gets on well with a lot of his team-mates,” Özil told the official Arsenal website.
“He’s just a great guy with whom I have a lot of fun. As I said, we’re just pleased to have him in this team.”
Özil has been in great form for Arsenal this season providing 16 assists in 19 Premier League games. The former Real Madrid man won his third consecutive Arsenal Vitality Player of the Month award earlier this week.
Arsenal take on Sunderland this weekend in the FA Cup and face Liverpool in their next Premier League fixture. The Gunners have won the FA Cup for past two seasons.
