The loss could also jeopardise the Gunners chances of finishing the league in second place.

Arsenal are currently third, three points behind Manchester City but the North London based side do have a game in hand.

The Gunners will take on fourth placed Manchester United next who still could overtake Arsenal and force them to qualify for the Champions League through the playoff route once again.

Arsenal played a tough playoff tie against Beşiktaş in this seasons Champions League qualifier.

The North London based side were held to a goalless draw at the Atatürk Olympic stadium in Istanbul and narrowly scraped a 1-0 win at the Emirates.
