Mesut Özil has referenced the hit television series Game of Thrones in his latest social media post.
The 27-year-old used the hash tag ‘winter is coming’ in his Instagram post. Özil posted a picture of himself wearing the jumper along with the following caption, “This Arsenal winter jumper is nuts! I would love to see everybody wearing it at our next home game. #winterjumper #winteriscoming #gift.”
The phrase was made popular in the first series of Game of Thrones and lives on in the form of an internet meme.
The Germany international is in great form of late and scored Arsenal’s opener in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.
Özil received a rating of 8.9 from WhoScored for his performance against Zagreb. The 27-year-old has scored in some of Arsenal’s most important goals this season netting against Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
Arsenal take on Norwich city this weekend as they look to get back to winning ways in the league following the defeat against West Brom last Saturday.
