Mesut Ozil has revealed the secret behind his best season in an Arsenal jersey.

The 27-year-old stated that last summer was the first time since joining Arsenal that he took part in a full pre-season with the team.

Ozil also stated he was injury free this season and had fully recovered from a knee injury which troubled him last season.

“Yes this season was my best season with Arsenal. But there were some factors behind it,” Ozil was quoted as saying by the Khaleej Times.

“For the first time since joining Arsenal in 2013, I had a proper preseason with the team. I never had a preseason with the team in the first two years.

“In the second year I also had an injury which kept me out of the game for a long time. So the preseason that I had this time really helped me play my best football for Arsenal.”

Ozil assisted 19 goals in the league this season, just one short of equalling the Premier League record of 20 set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

The 27-year-old has been included in the Germany national team squad which will travel to France this summer.
