Mesut Ozil reported to be unhappy with Arsenal boss

Arsene Wenger

Mesut Ozil is reported to have threatened to leave Arsenal if Arsene Wenger does not leave at the end of the season according to the Daily Star [via Don Balon].

The report claims that Ozil is fed up with failing to win the Premier League and that he is willing to move back to Spain if a more ambitious manager is not appointed.

The sensational story has not been confirmed by Ozil or his representatives and it would be a surprise if the story did end up turning out to be true considering the World Cup winner has consistently backed up his manager.

“Arsene Wenger was definitely the main reason I signed here,” Ozil has told The Times

“He’s a great football man. He always qualifies for the Champions League knockouts as a team. We are really happy we have such a great manager.”

Likewise Wenger has repeatedly praised Ozil this season and the playmaker stated that one of the reasons he joined Arsenal was to work with the manager.

Arsenal do still have a chance of winning the league title and are currently 11 points behind leaders Leicester City but have a game in hand.

Ozil is enjoying his most productive season since joining the Gunners on a record £42.5 million transfer from Real Madrid in 2013 providing 19 assists and scoring seven times in all competitions.
