Newcastle green light £14m star exit to make way for Chelsea replacement – Turkish giants prepare offers

Newcastle United are prepared to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic over the summer to make way for a number of replacements.

The Mirror report that the Magpies will sell Mitrovic if they can get close to the £14 million spent on him in 2015.

Per-the-source, head coach Rafa Benitez wants to use the fee he would generate to strengthen his squad over the summer.

Turkish giants Besiktas and Fenerbahce have been closely linked with a move for Mitrovic.

Besiktas would be unlikely to offer £14 million due to budget constraints and Fenerbahce currently have their hands tied with Financial Fair Play – otherwise the fee would be within their means.

The Turkish league champions and Fenerbahce are keen on loan moves for the Serbian international.

Fotospor report that Besiktas club officials Ali Naibi and Umut Guner are set to travel to England for talks with Newcastle United over the transfer of Mitrovic.

Besiktas would be able to offer Champions League group stage football next season.

The 22-year-old striker did however, struggle for goals last season, netting just four times in the Championship.

Benitez is open to the idea of Mitrovic leaving as he wants to replace the striker with Tammy Abraham.

The report claims that Abraham is close to signing for Newcastle on a loan deal.
