Newcastle prepare £20m offer for Man United striker target but club president wants £30m

Newcastle are prepared to offer £20 million for Besiktas star Cenk Tosun according to the Fotomac sports newspaper.

Per the source, the Magpies are now prepared to increase their bid but Besiktas president Fikret Orman has now increased his asking price to £30 million.

Orman is not keen on selling his star man in January and would only consider doing so if his valuation is matched.

The club president is prepared to sell the Turkish international but preferably at the end of the season.

Besiktas’ other striker Alvaro Negredo only has one goal to his name this season and a replacement for Tosun would have to be found before the end of the winter transfer window.

Orman does not want to take a gamble in losing one of his most important players midway through the season.

Newcastle could however, face competition from Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

All three clubs are reported to have recently scouted the prolific forward.

Besiktas have already booked a place in the Champions League Last 16 as Group G leaders and are still in the title race.

Tosun has scored four goals and provided two assists for Besiktas in the Champions League this season.

In total the 26-year-old has 10 goals and three assists in all competitions this season.
