Newcastle reveal provisional squad ahead of Chelsea clash, Dan Barlaser fails to make side again

Newcastle take on reigning Premier League champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Magpies manager Rafael Benitez has no fresh injury problems.

Defenders Paul Dummett (hamstring) and Jamaal Lascelles (foot) and winger Christian Atsu (groin) are closing in on returns but have not made the provisional squad.

Benitez has been rotating his side heavily recently and made five changes for the mid-week 2-2 draw against West Brom.

Karl Darlow, Chancel Mbemba, Isaac Hayden, Mikel Merino and Ayoze Perez replaced Rob Elliot, Javier Manquillo, Jonjo Shelvey, Mohamed Diame and Dwight Gayle.

Newcastle youngster Dan Barlaser has failed to make the provisional squad yet again.

The 20-year-old midfielder made the squad earlier on in the season but has yet to make a Premier League appearance.

The midfielder is eligible to represent both England at Turkey at international level.

Barlaser has four assists in 14 appearances for the Newcastle reserve side.

Chelsea have a great record against Newcastle having beat the visitors on their last four visits to Stamford Bridge.
