‘Offers from major European clubs will be considered’ – Liverpool transfer boost as agent reveals terms £17.5m defender would leave

Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer has been closely linked with a summer exit this window.

Turkish-Football reported that the Reds have been targeting Kjaer after pulling out of talks to sign Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

A source close to Fenerbahce confirmed that the Reds remain interested in Kjaer but that an official bid has yet to be made.

The Reds received a double transfer boost following comments made by Kjaer’s agent Mikkel Beck.

The agent denied reports that Lille have struck a deal with the Denmark international.

Mikkel underlined that while Kjaer is happy at Fenerbahce they would consider offers from major European clubs – we would assume Liverpool fit this category.

“It’s completely bogus. Simon loved his two seasons at Lille, it was a great club for him. But for now, he is at Fenerbahce and still has two years of contract,” Beck told La Voix Du Nord.

“His return is not a possible. There was no contact whatsoever. I speak regularly with the Lille and have never mentioned his case.”

“He is happy in Turkey but if a very large European club makes an offer we will consider it.

“Simon is a very ambitious player.”

Fenerbahce value their star defender as being worth £17.5 million.

The Yellow Canaries are keen on Kjaer staying on this window but the club are under pressure from Financial Fair Play (FFP) and could struggle to make additional transfers without selling high value players.
