Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could be on their way out of Arsenal at the end of the season.

The duos are yet to pen a new deal with the north London-based club and both of their contracts expire in under nine months.

Ozil and Sanchez’s commitment to the club has been questioned by fans and pundits since the summer.

However, club captain Per Mertesacker has insisted that the pair are committed to the cause.

Sanchez came close to a move to Manchester City on transfer deadline day while Ozil has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

“Yes. Everyone has to do his job 100 per cent otherwise they are not eligible to be on the pitch,” Mertesacker told SkySports when asked if he felt Ozil and Sanchez were fully committed to Arsenal.

“I have no problems with players in their final year, that includes me as well. The only issue I’ve got is if they’re not fully committed to what we’re doing here.

“Even if you’re in your final year you have to prove yourself every single day, in order to stay here or to get another contract somewhere else.

“A lot of people focus on being on long-term contracts, but that’s not needed. I don’t feel a dip in commitment; we’re in a good front with those who have their contracts expiring”

Arsenal suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Watford FC last weekend. The Gunners face Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday night.
