Ozil has more to offer than 'just his passing' says Arsenal keeper

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed that Mesut Özil has far more to offer the team than just his passing ability and that a lot of what he gives the side goes unnoticed.

Özil has come under criticism for his languid playing style at times since joining Arsenal for a record £42.5 million fee from Real Madrid in 2013.

However, Cech praised Özil for his running ability and underlined that he is a complete player.

“People always speak about Mesut and the way he has great passing ability. He has but when you see him running, it’s not only about his passing. He’s a far more complete player than just his passing,” Cech was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

The 26-year-old played a staring role in the Gunners 2-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday providing an assist to Theo Walcott for the opening goal.

Özil is expected to start in Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League encounter with Dinamo Zagreb tomorrow evening in Croatia before heading back to London for the derby against reigning Premier League champions Chelsea.

Arsenal reached the Champions League Last 16 last season and have drawn Bayern Munich and Olympiakos in Group F.
