Arsenal star Mesut Özil admitted that he was pleased with the 2-1 win over Leicester City but disappointed that his side could not kill off the game despite taking a 2-0 first half lead.

Özil shared an image from the game on his instagram account with the caption: “Quite an unnecessary thrill after the 2:0 lead. But in the end we got the three points – that’s all that counts!  #YaGunnersYa #AFCvLCFC #Arsenal #AFC #Mesut #Ozil”

The 26-year-old created four chances in the first half and provided an assist for Koscielny’s opening goal.

Özil was also directly involved in the second, taking a powerful long range effort that was too hot to handle for the Leicester goalkeeper. Theo Walcott converted off the rebound to give Arsenal a comfortable lead going into the half-time break.

The World Cup winner started his third game in a row for the Gunners tonight.

The Arsenal star has played five games since returning from a long spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury he sustained last October.

Özil has now scored three times and created two assists in his last four games in all competitions for Arsenal.
