Oğuzhan Özyakup admitted he was delighted to have scored the winning goal in Beşiktaş’s 1-0 win against Gaziantepspor.
Özyakup scored his first Süper Lig goal of the season to take Beşiktaş into first place in the league.
“We started to game well but our opponents made it difficult for us,” Özyakup said.
“The second half went a lot smoother, I am just happy to have done my part for the team.
“I was nursing an injury and had only just recovered so this was a great comeback.
“To be honest Atiba told me that I was going to get substituted around the 60 minute mark and I managed to score just before getting taken off.
“We have a great team spirit now and every player in the squad is a potential first team player, there is so much competition, literally everyone can play so everybody always wants to give it their all.”
Özyakup joined Beşiktaş from Arsenal in 2012 for a fee of €500,000.
The 22-year-old has scored 11 times and provided 17 assists in 79 appearances since joining the Eagles.
