Paul Merson predicts Arsenal v West Ham game

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has predicted that the Gunners will return to winning ways this week.

Arsenal host West Ham at the Emirates on Wednesday as they look for their first win since February 11.

The Gunners have recorded only one win from their last six games and find themselves seven points behind fourth placed Man City.

Merson believes Arsenal will win against a struggling West Ham this week.

“I like Slaven Bilic, I think he’s a good manager, but it’s just one of those seasons.” Paul Merson told Sky Sports.

“West Ham are struggling at the moment, and you’d expect Arsenal to win this game with the way the Hammers are playing.

“The last 20 minutes against Man City for Arsenal was like an Emirates Cup game, like Austria v West Germany in the World Cup many years back.

“It was like: ‘That’s a draw, we’re both happy with that.’ Neither side wanted to lose.

“West Ham are struggling, so I’m going with Arsenal.”

West Ham come into Wednesday’s game in poor form. Slaven Bilic’s side have lost four games in a row. The Hammers are just six points above the relegation zone.

Germany international Mesut Ozil is available for selection this week. The former Real Madrid star was slammed by pundits and fans for his performance against City on Sunday.

Ozil has provided nine assists and scored nine goal in 32 apperances this season. The 28-year-old’s last goal came back in December 2016.
