Manchester City playmaker Ilkay Gundogan has revealed who his idol is during a trip to New York.

The 26-year-old shared a photo of himself alongside the legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo. The 37-year-old currently plays for New York FC in the MLS.

Gundogan uploaded the photo to his Instagram account and included the following caption, “Great talk with a player who will always have the quality to dominate a game no matter what age. True idol for any CM! Thanks for welcoming us.”

Gundogan has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury back in December.
