Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to wish his teammate Per Mertesacker ‘all the best,’ after the experinced defender returned to first team training.

Mertesacker has been sidelined with an injury since the beginning of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury in July. The former Germany international was expected to be out until January but has made a speedy recovery.

Ozil shared a picture of himself alongside Mertesacker with the caption, “All the best, Per! I don’t know any other footballer I’ve played together with for such a long time. You have always been a person I’ve looked up to – in the true sense of the word #BFG Thank you for all your advice and always being there for me!”

Ozil is expected to start for Arsenal when they take on Burnley FC in the Premier League tomorrow.
