Robin van Persie is a fan favourite among Manchester United fans after spending three seasons at the club, scoring 58 goals and playing a key role in winning the league title for a record 20th time.
Van Persie returned to Old Trafford as a Fenerbahce player on Thursday evening in the Europa League but United fans still cheered him on and chanted his name as if he was still one of their own.
The Dutch striker did end up scoring a consolation goal in the 4-1 defeat and he showed his respect to the United fans by walking over to the home supporters after the game and gave them a round of applause.
