Players still back Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, says Spain international

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has not lost the support of the players according to star midfielder Andres Iniesta.

According to the Daily Mail, Iniesta insisted that Barcelona players have confidence in Enrique despite their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Last 16 first-leg clash at the Parc des Prince stadium.

Barca have also been struggling in the Spanish league of late and needed a last minute goal from Leo Messi to salvage a win against relegation battlers Leganes on Sunday.

The Spanish international went onto state that he believes Enrique and his teammates will emerge from their difficult spell.

“We’ve not lost confidence in ourselves or in the manager,” Iniesta was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“I think it’s a one-off situation we’re going through. I’m sure we’ll recover those sensations which have seemed lost and our winning mentality for the upcoming challenges.

“Nothing is lost and we have to be convinced that we’ll get back to doing things the right way.

‘We can’t keep looking back. We have to look forward and fight for everything – I don’t have any doubts in this team.”

Turkey international Arda Turan’s future at Barcelona could be dependent on Luis Enrique remaining at the Catalan giants.

Turkish-Football recently revealed that Turan is unsure of his Barca future if Enrique is no longer the manager.

Turan has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea and has brought a new house near Stamford Bridge stadium.

The 30-year-old has been in good form for Luis Enrique’s side so far this season with seven assists and 13 goals. Turan has however missed Barcelona’s last two games due to a groin injury.

The reigning La Liga champions take on Atletico Madrid this league at the Vicente Calderon stadium.
