Preview: Galatasaray v Konyaspor – How will the Lions cope without Burak Yilmaz?

The big news going into the Galatasaray v Konyaspor clash is that Burak Yilmaz has become the latest player to join the Chinese Super League.

The Lions star striker scored 82 times in 140 games for Galatasaray winning two league titles and playing a key role in the Istanbul giants reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.

Sinan Gumus will be the man Galatasaray fans pin their hopes on in Yilmaz’s absence. The 22-year-old striker has been on fire lately scoring eight times in his last seven games but it is worth noting that six have come as a result of cup games.

Galatasaray are in a bad way. The Lions are 13 points behind leaders Fenerbahce but have a chance to make up some lost ground following their rivals 4-2 loss against Antalyaspor yesterday.

Konyaspor meanwhile are in great form winning their last six matches and knocking on the door of the top three.

Galatasaray should be favourites at home but their recent form does not inspire much confidence. Expect there to be goals – lots of goals.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals
