Meireles was selected to play in the All-Star game but had to pull out due to injury as did his fellow Fenerbahçe teammate Dirk Kuyt.

Kuyt and Meireles did however, travel to England and were involved in the Liverpool FC TV match day coverage of the game.

Both Kuyt and Meireles both played for Liverpool before joining the Yellow Canaries.

The All-Star charity match at Anfield ended in a 2-2 draw with Steven Gerrard scoring twice for his side.

The game was involved by the Liverpool FC Foundation and the funds raised will be donated to charity.

Kasımpaşa winger Ryan Babel also took part in the All-Star game.
