Real Madrid boss facing pressure ahead of Atletico Madrid Champions League clash

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is under pressure going into the Champions League quarter-final clash against Atletico Madrid.

Ancelotti’s future has been the subject of speculation after struggling for consistency since the turn of the year.

The experienced manager does not however, believe he will lose his job if Real fail to knock Atleti out of the Champions League. “I don’t think so,” Ancelotti was quoted as saying in ESPN.

“It depends on the work carried out over a season, and this game simply forms a part of the season. I feel the time to judge my performance is at the end of the campaign and not now.”

Real beat the La Liga champions 4-1 in the Champions League final last season but have struggled in general against Atleti recently.

The Spanish giants have lost three and drawn just one of their last four derby games against Atleti.

Turkish international Arda Turan is expected to start against Real on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old missed the final against Real last year due to injury but played a key role in the Rojiblancos reaching the later stages of the competition.
