Revealed: Arsenal Receive Boost In Bid To Keep Star Man

Danny Welbeck Arsenal

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has been closely linked with a Besiktas move over recent weeks.

Sporx claimed the Gunners are unwilling to sell Welbeck amid the Alexis Sanchez to Man Utd transfer saga and following the sale of Theo Walcott to Everton.

Per the source, the North London based outfit are preparing for life without the Chile international and don’t want to be left with a shortage in attack.

A source close to Besiktas has revealed to Turkish-Football that the club are not in talks with Welbeck’s representatives.

The Black Eagles have not made any contact with the England international’s agent and no offer has been made to Arsenal.

The reigning Super Lig champions have prioritized finding a replacement for Turkey international Cenk Tosun.

The 26-year-old joined Everton last Friday but Besiktas need to find a new forward with a Champions League Last 16 clash against Bayern Munich looming.

Besiktas drew up a shortlist which had Welbeck included but the club are instead focused on Islam Slimani and Chicharito.

The Istanbul based outfit want an experienced, proven, non-injury prone forward in their bid to retain the league title for a third time and challenge Bayern.

The 28-year-old could however, still struggle for playing time even with Walcott being sold and Sanchez potentially leaving.

Welbeck would still be behind Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud in the pecking order competing with Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom for playing time.

The star striker has five goals and one assist in 22 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions this season.
