Revealed: How Crystal Palace missed out on 26-goal star striker on deadline day, Eagles made to regret decision

Premier League side Crystal Palace came close to signing the in-form striker Cenk Tosun on transfer deadline day.

The Turkey international has been on-fire this season with four goals in the UEFA Champions League and six in the Turkish League. Tosun has also attracted the attention of Premier League giants Tottenham in recent weeks.

However, Palace were in talks to sign Tosun on deadline day and came ever-so-close to landing the star striker.

According to the Turkish outlet Sabah, Crystal Palace offered Besiktas €12 million, €6 million short of Besiktas’ €18 million asking price.

The report goes onto state that Palace officials now regret their decision not to match Besiktas’ valuation over the summer.

Tosun netted 26 goals for Besiktas last season. The Istanbul giants currently sit third in the Turkish league. Crystal Palace meanwhile find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League after 11 games.
