Revealed: Liverpool star Emre Can will be one of two players of Turkish origin at Confederations Cup – Two Super Lig players also called up

Liverpool star Emre Can, Bursaspor midfielder Aziz Eraltay and Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay will be the three players of Turkish origin competing at the Confederations Cup.

Can and Demirbay are both ethnic Turks but were born in Germany and will represent their country of birth.

Eraltay meanwhile will play for Australia in the tournament.

All three players had the right to represent their country of birth and Turkey at international level.

Demirbay was was expected to play for Turkey before making a late switch to Germany.

There will be a total of two players from the Turkish Super Lig at the Confederations Cup.

Besiktas star Ricardo Quaremsa has been called up by Portugal and as already mentioned Eraltay has been called up by Australia from Bursaspor.

Quaresma had an impressive season for Besiktas playing a key role in his side winning their second consecutive league title.

Germany will take on Australia, Chile and Cameroon while Euro 2016 champions Portugal face Mexico, New Zealand and Russia.

Group B: Chile, Australia, Germany, Cameroon
