Akhisar beat Fenerbahçe 2-1 at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium to put an end to the reigning champions 33 match unbeaten home run.

Akhisar manager Roberto Carlos revealed that he was delighted with his sides performance after the game.

“It is always tough playing Fenerbahçe away, we defended well and executed our counter attacking game plan, it was a great win,” Carlos told Lig Tv.

Carlos also underlined that he has been working on improving his players strength and fitness since taking over in December.

“When I took over here the players were not physical enough, they lacked strength, we have been working hard on improving the conditioning of the players and we are starting to see the results,” he added.

Akhisar appointed Carlos as manager on a one and a half year deal after parting ways with Mustafa Akçay.

The former World Cup winner has experience both playing and coaching in Turkey.

Carlos was appointed manager of Sivasspor on a two-year deal last summer and guided the Yiğidolar to a sixth place finish in his first season.

The former Real Madrid star also played for Fenerbahçe during his playing career.
