Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that captain Steven Gerrard will miss the Europa League Round of 32 clash against Beşiktaş.

Gerrard suffered an injury in Liverpool’s Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The experienced midfielder was forced to come off the field on 68 minutes due to a tight hamstring.

The former England international captain could be out for up to three weeks.

Gerrard missed the FA Cup 5th round tie at Crystal Palace and could miss the Premier League trip to Southampton on Sunday week.

The Liverpool captain has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances for the Reds this season.

Liverpool host Beşiktaş at Anfield on Thursday 19 February 2015 and will travel to Istanbul the following week for the return leg.

The return leg will be played at the Atatürk Olympic stadium, where the Reds lifted the 2004-05 Champions League title.
