“Arda Turan was a fantastic dribbler but there was no end product, he did not know what to do after beating his man, I helped him improve this aspect of his game, we worked a lot with him and it is great to see how successful he has become,” Skibbe said.

Skibbe coached Galatasaray over the 2008-09 season and lifted the Turkish Cup while in charge of the Lions.

Turan joined Atletico Madrid from Galatasaray back in 2011 for €15 million.

The Turkish attacking midfielder has become an integral part of Diego Simeone’s side since arriving from Istanbul.

Turan became the first Turkish international to win the La Liga title last season and he has also won the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Copa Del Rey.

The 27-year-old was also part of the Atleti side that reached the Champions League final last season.

The Turkish international has three goals and six assists in all competitions for the Spanish champions this season.
