Southampton mangaer Ronald Koeman has stated that Feyenoord will be title favourites in the Eredivisie next season with the arrival of Dirk Kuyt.
Kuyt recently revealed that he will be joining Feyenoord from Fenerbahçe at the end of the season.
“It is great news for Feyenoord, Kuyt is still an excellent player and will have a great influence on the team and staff,” Koeman was quoted as saying by Eurosport TR.
“He has a great relationship with the fans, all the youngsters will look up to him and learn from him.
“This is a fantastic transfer however, you look at it and I would put Feyenoord as title favourites next season.”
Southampton had also been closely linked with the 34-year-old winger.
Saints head coach Ronald Koeman – a former Feyenoord player – had been keen on bringing in Kuyt.
Kuyt spent three seasons at Feyenoord, scoring 71 goals in 101 games, becoming a fan favourite at the Rotterdam based club.
The former Netherlands international joined the Yellow Canaries from Liverpool in 2012 for €1 million.
Fenerbahçe are currently involved in the Süper Lig title race and are also still in the Turkish Cup.
