Southampton are set to completed the signing of Charlie Austin from QPR for a €4 million fee.

The Independent have reported that Southampton have agreed personal terms with Austin after having a £4m bid accepted by Queens Park Rangers.

The Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray previously held contract talks with QPR’s in-form striker Charlie Austin according to the Turkish newspaper AMK.

Galatasaray have been on the hunt for a new striker since the summer transfer window and have previously been linked with Lokomotiv Moscow’s Oumar Niasse and Newcastle’s Papis Cisse.

The Lion’s first choice striker Burak Yilmaz has seven goals while his alternative Umut Bulut has only managed two goals in 16 games. Yilmaz has recently suffered a reoccurrence of a hamstring injury keeping him out until the end of January.

Charlie Austin has one assist and nine goals in 16 appearances for QPR in the Championship this season.
